Rory McIlroy found himself in a precarious position on Friday in his first hole of the second round of the 2017 PGA Championship. Facing a third shot on the par-5 10th that was blocked out by trees left and right, McIlroy really only had one true path to the green: down the cart path.
So, the four-time major winner did the only thing he could do with any real hope of making par. He hit his ball down the cart path.

McIlroy and new caddie Harry Diamond came together and chose to take the path of least resistance, and the Ulsterman pulled off an incredible shot, bounding down the asphalt and landing on the green before just rolling off into the fringe.
It was a remarkable effort from McIlroy, who is trying to find a way into contention at the PGA Championship in search of a fifth major at the Charlotte club where he has won the Wells Fargo Championship twice.
