Rory McIlroy has signed a deal to play and endorse TaylorMade Golf equipment.
McIlroy, who recently got married to fiancee Erica Stoll in Ireland, tweeted a video on Monday of him preparing for his post-nuptials return at TPC Sawgrass. He was swinging a TaylorMade driver; it was unmistakable. That development piqued the interest of equipment aficionados, who wondered why McIlroy would make another in-season equipment switch -- particularly with the boom stick, perhaps his best club.
The formal news of McIlroy's signing an endorsement deal with TaylorMade was made public Tuesday, with McIlroy playing a full bag of TaylorMade equipment.
McIlroy changed fairway woods from Callaway Golf's GBB Epic line to TaylorMade for the Masters, a move that also surprised as the Ulsterman was chasing a fifth major and the career Grand Slam.
This deal reportedly not only includes woods but will be a full bag deal, meaning McIlroy will switch from Callaway's custom Apex irons, as well Vokey for Titleist's wedges and the Pro V1x golf ball.
