In between meetings (wink, wink) and playing some golf this weekend at his Bedminster, N.J., golf club, President Donald Trump had some time to catch John Daly win his first PGA Tour Champions event and first U.S. tournament since 2004.
President Trump tweeted congratulations to the two-time major winner on Monday for winning the Insperity Invitational near Houston.
Congratulations to @PGA_JohnDaly on his big win yesterday. John is a great guy who never gave up - and now a winner again!

Daly was happy to hear from the Commander-in-Chief.
Thank you Mr. President & also doing such a great job for our country! Means a lot! #winning https://t.co/aW5eKb30CZ

Daly was a vocal supporter of Trump during the Presidential campaign, saying he hoped to get an invite to Trump's inauguration if he won.
Until Sunday, Daly had not won in the United States since the 2004 Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines near San Diego. Daly won on the one-year anniversary of his PGA Tour Champions debut in the same event. It's also his first top-10 finish on the 50-plus circuit.
