Golf courses around the country were forced for two days to maintain their tee sheets using pen and paper as tee-sheet management provider EZ Links experienced a systemwide outage.

"The reservation system was taken offline following a system update," said EZ Links Chief Marketing Officer Laura Dihel in a statement to Golf News Net. "The update did not perform as planned and the team is working to bring the system back online for our clients and golfers. We apologize for the service interruption and look forward to resuming service as soon as possible.

"This is definitely an uncommon occurrence for EZLinks and not an update we like to provide. Serving our clients well is of critical importance to us and we are doing everything possible to ensure we can do just that."

The outage, which ended Saturday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. Eastern, began Wednesday night according to sources, with many of the company's 3,000 course accounts learning of the issue on Thursday. Some courses learned of the digital tee-sheet issues from Golf Channel's GolfNow, contacting facilities to confirm potential reservation alterations related to tee times purchased through their service.

TeeOff.com, which is jointly owned with the PGA Tour, was part of the outage. A message on the website told customers that the site was down for "scheduled maintenance."

At golf courses and facilities relying on EZ Links to procure online reservations and manage their tee sheets, the expectation was that this weekend will be done like it was in the 20th century: with pen and paper or on a spreadsheet.
