2016 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Monday qualifiers

Kurt Kitayama, Sihwan Kim, Josh Teater and Brian Campbell all earned spots in the 2016 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open through the Monday qualifier at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.

Kitayama was medalist by two shots in the 18-hole event, shooting 9-under 63.

Behind Kitayama, seven players shot 7-under 65, forcing them into a seven-for-three playoff, with Kim, Teater and Campbell surviving. Sebastian Vasquez, Scott Harrington, Jin Park and Stephan Jaeger, who was going for a second consecutive Monday four-spotter, were locked out through the playoff.

Kitayama is a UNLV product who turned pro in 2015. He had a tough year on the Web.com Tour in 2016, finishing 178th on the money list.

Kim is 28 and a product of the Stanford golf program. The American struggled on the Challenge Tour this season, ranked 102nd on their money list.

The 37-year-old Teater is a Kentucky native with PGA Tour card experience. He finished 36th on the Web.com Tour regular season money list in 2016.

Campbell, the 23-year-old U. of Illinois product, has PGA Tour status, finishing T-50 in the Safeway Open and missing the cut in Mississippi last week.
