At the Rod Myers Invitational at Duke University in North Carolina on Saturday, a planned 36-hole day was going to spoil over as darkness was setting in over the course hosting some of the college game's best.

The final group of 27 to play on the day started to run up against daylight on their 16th hole of their second round of the day. At that point, according to Golfweek, the tournament committee gave the OK for all of the players still on the course to be transported in golf carts. However, the final group of Ben Corfee from UC Davis, Will Zalatoris of Wake Forest and UNC's Joshua Martin were not able to escape the darkness for their final hole.

Once the group got to the green, Zalatoris and Martin decided they would wait until Sunday morning to hit their long-ish putts. Not Corfee, though, who had a 10-footer left to wrap up his day. He wanted to putt out. And then he got a little help from his gallery.

“Ben was the closest and he decided to putt out, and at that point everyone around the green started getting their flashlights opened on their cell phones and came around to create light for him to be able to see,” said UC Davis head coach Cy Williams said in an email to Golfweek. “It was a combination of teammates, volunteers, fellow competitors, etc., all spontaneous.”

Even better, Corfee made the par-saving putt.

Corfee shot even-par 72 in the final round to finish tied for 40th place among 82 players in the individual portion of the event.
