Phil Mickelson looks to become one of the oldest golf major winners in the history of the game at the 2016 British Open Championship.

However, if Mickelson were to pull off winning a sixth major and a second Claret Jug, he wouldn't be either the oldest major winner in golf history or even the oldest British Open winner.

At 46 years, 1 month, 1 day old, Mickelson could become the second oldest winner of the Claret Jug, 65 days younger than Old Tom Morris when he won the 1867 Open Championship at Prestwick in Scotland.

Julius Boros is the oldest golf major winner, taking the 1968 PGA Championship at 48 years, 4 months, 18 days, beating Arnold Palmer and Bob Charles by a shot at Pecan Valley Golf Club in Texas.
