The 2016 U.S. Open got underway, albeit in scattershot fashion, on Thursday at Oakmont Country Club, just outside of Pittsburgh. Three rain delays broke up play, ultimately only letting nine of 156 players finish, with 78 never seeing the golf course to start the tournament.

Golf News Net's Keith Leventhal chronicled the thunderstorms that rolled through the club on Thursday, halting play for good around 4:30 p.m.
