Titleist Vokey Design SM6 wedges now available in Raw finish

The 2016 Titleist Vokey Design SM6 wedges are now available in a Raw finish that the company says is preferred by many of its staffers.

TheĀ 8620 carbon steel head doesn't have any extra finish applied in the Raw models, allowing it to rust with use. Not applying the finish allows clubmakers to grind to a player's specs more easily.

The line features a progressive center of gravity to dial in performance. In the lower lofts, 46-52 degrees, the wedges have a low center of gravity to improve ball speed and add 3-5 yards on the prior generation. The thinner topline and raised lower section of the wedge make the technology visible to the player. The 54- and 56-degree wedges, considered the mid-lofted clubs by Titleist, have a middle-position center of gravity. In the 58-62 degree wedges, a high center of gravity position, created by a raised upper section, tightens trajectory and distance.

The Spin Milled TX4 grooves and face texture add up to 200rpm more spin on average. The texturing, which is machine milled, sharpens the groove edges. The grooves themselves have different shapes, depending on the loft of the clubs. In the 46-54 degree wedges, the grooves are narrower and deeper, while the 56-62 degree lofts have wider and shallower grooves, each with the idea of producing more spin and improving control for the types of shots typically hit with each wedge type.

The SM6 wedges are available in five unique grinds Vokey has developed in consultation with touring players.

These Raw SM6 wedges are now available through Titleist WedgeWorks on Vokey.com for $195 and can be customized with stamping, paintfill and other options like shaft, grip and ferrule.
