Smylie Kaufman has surged into contention at the 2016 Masters, looking to become a major champion after winning the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas last October.

Of course, the name confuses a lot of people. Is that his real first name? No, it's not. It's actually is middle name.

Smylie Kaufman's full name is Carter Smylie Kaufman, and the 24-year-old LSU product has that middle name because it runs in his family. Smylie Gebhart, was a cousin of his grandmother, who was an All-American defensive end at Georgia Tech in 1971 despite his modest stature.

Believe it or not, Kaufman's brother goes by the name Luckie. Luckie isn't his given first name either, but the name is in tribute to the boys' great-grandfather, Austin Luckie Shipman. His real name is Connor Luckie Kaufman.
