PGA Tour player Billy Hurley III went public on Tuesday that his father, Willard Hurley Jr., has been missing for the last nine days.

A retired police officer, Hurley hasn't been seen since getting into his 1998 Ford F150 truck on July 19 and driving away from the family's Leesburg, Va., home with some clothes and cash. Hurley's mother has filed a missing persons report with local police.

The 33-year-old said he is in this week's field hoping that his father will read or see a story that might encourage him to come home, or that someone who has seen Hurley will come forward and help the family locate him.

Hurley said, "I’m just hoping that there’s a story, that maybe he goes to PGATour.com to check my tee time or check my score and sees this and understands that, Dad, we love you and we want you to come home.”

Hurley, who learned his father was missing on Monday afternoon, said his father does not have a history of mental illness.
