Phil Mickelson is very proud to be a three-time Masters winner and a crowd-pleaser. So when he does corporate events, Mickelson likes to bring along one of the replica green jackets he has -- you know, to show off a bit.
“If it was chilly in the morning, I would pull it out,” Mickelson explained Tuesday at Augusta National. “I wouldn’t carry three [green jackets] around with me, but I would say, ‘I’ve got two more if you’re cold.’”
Imagine Mickelson pulling an Oprah. You get a green jacket! And you get a green jacket! And you get a green jacket!
By Mickelson, who is known to be one hell of a subtle trash-talker, knows he has to be careful when and where he busts out that line.
He joked, “Some people can take it, some people can’t."
However, that's not the real green jacket. Augusta National creates one green jacket for each champion unless their body shape changes significantly, and they only lend it out to a winner a year from their date of victory. Then the club holds onto it for safe-keeping.
