Justin Timberlake and family sells Mirimichi to Memphis businessman

Justin Timberlake and his family have sold Mirimichi, the golf club they have owned since 2009 near Timberlake's boyhood home. The club announced the change in ownership over Twitter on Friday.

The new owner in Memphis businessman Fred Edmaiston, who takes over immediately.

Timberlake spent $16 million to renovate what was known as Big Creek Golf Course into Mirimichi, making it the nation's first course to receive the Audubon Classic Sanctuary from Audubon International.

When the course opened, Timberlake said he hoped Mirimichi would attract a "U.S. Open event" in 10-15 years.
