The contraction of the golf industry has hit the doorstep of two-time major champion John Daly. Daly announced Wednesday on Twitter that his Lion's Den Golf Club would be closing.

The course will close Sunday, according to a golf shop employee who answered the phone on Thursday. The employee said the closure "was kind of sudden." When asked how the club had been doing, the employee said, "It's just been kinda slow."

Originally opened as Bay Ridge Golf Club in 1969, Lion's Den is an 18-hole semi-private course northwest of Little Rock. The Jerry O'Neill design is where Daly leanred to play the game. From the back tees, the course is about 6,100 yards. It was originally a nine-hole course. Daly purchased the club in 2005.
