Former golf coach Andrew Nisbet pleaded guilty Thursday to charges he molested several children he once taught and seeking a hit man to kill his victims.

Nisbet will be sentenced Oct. 9 to 27 years, four months in California state prison, the result of a plea deal, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He will also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He had originally been charged on 75 counts of child molestation related to his abuse of three boys aged 12-17 between 2009 and '12 while he was director of instruction at Las Positas Golf Course.

While in prison, Nisbet wrote letters suggesting he wanted to hire someone to kill at least two of his victims. Corrections officials intercepted the letters and had a staffer pose as a hitman, recording a conversation with Nisbet during a prison visit.
