University of South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier -- the Ole or Head Ball Coach, as he's called -- is an avid golfer. He's the kind of guy who loves spending all day at the country club.

The problem for Spurrier, however, is that his wife Jeri didn't want to lose her husband for another summer to golf. So she scheduled a few vacations.

"I didn't play as much golf as I usually do," Spurrier said in an interview with Spurs & Feathers. "For some reason, my wife Jeri and I had some trips already scheduled, and it was sort-of inconvenient to take the golf clubs to Costa Rica and then all the way up to Nova Scotia."

Spurrier did play in the American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe, which he considers his final golf event of the off-season.

Looking back on his summer, Spurrier probably wanted to play more golf. But, as he said when the head coach of Washington's NFL team, "Hindsight is 50-50."
