Tiger Woods may not be playing in the 2014 U.S. Open while recovering from microdiscectomy surgery, but he may well be at Pinehurst No. 2 after all.

George Willis of the New York Post reports sources indicate Woods will appear at the U.S. Open alongside basketball legend Michael Jordan. Willis speculates it may be related to Woods' relationship with Nike.

Jordan's relationship with Nike takes on a unique twist this week at Pinehurst, with Keegan Bradley wearing Air Jordan golf shoes in the year's second major. Jordan and Bradley collaborated on the design and function of the shoes which will soon be available to the public.

Meanwhile, Woods is yet to indicate a return date, though Golf Channel has reported Woods is targeting a return around the Open Championship in July.
