Could golf use a theme like Carrie Underwood’s Sunday Night Football?

Carrie Underwood made her debut on Sunday night as singer of the theme song for NBC's Sunday Night Football.

Underwood took over for Faith Hill (who took over from Pink) in singing her version of "I've Been Waiting All Day (for Sunday Night)." She opened to mixed reviews on Twitter, but the transition got us thinking that golf could use a superstar crooner belting out a theme song for the PGA Tour every time it is on TV.

Obviously the Sunday Night Football theme wouldn't work out so well. Too late in the day.

Of course, the tune that inspired the SNF theme, Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You," would definitely work for how most people think about golf. Alternatively, Ugly Kid Joe's only hit, "I Hate Everything About You," would work.

Kenny Loggins' theme, "I'm Alright," from Caddyshack would probably excite some folks still stuck in the 1970s.

Golf could go young and pick something that is hot now, like Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop." They'd have to omit the references to Molly, and probably not show any twerking, but otherwise, that'd work. (But, seriously, what the hell is going on in that music video?)

Could Macklemore and Ryan Lewis be conned to perform "Can't Hold Us"?

Perhaps best, however, would be Jim Nantz doing a spoken-word version of a Bing Crosby tune.
