After a (reportedly) hilarious episode recapping last year’s two-man-team Bumage-Smoyes Cup competition in North Carolina, friend of the podcast (and friend of co-host Darin Bunch, although he begrudgingly admits it) Jason Moyes returns to “Talking GolfGetaways with Mitch and Darin” for an Emergency 9 deep dive into his golfing soul (probably deeper than any of us would have liked when it comes to the “Apparel or Equipment You Can’t Live Without” question — Spoiler Alert: Some listeners might find parts of this episode more crass than usual).

Highlighting everything from favorite courses such as Tobacco Road and Lahinch to destinations such as Bandon Dunes (and the cool escapism of the nearby Bally Bandon Sheep Ranch), Jason also dives into his favorite “seafood extravaganza” meal at Pismo’s Cracked Crab (coincidentally with Darin) and the need for comfortable underwear and baby wipes on the golf course (Don’t say we didn’t warn you).

And finally, Jason ends his Emergency 9 with a few heartwarming golf stories — the first about his one and only ace at Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii during his daughter’s first round ever on a golf course with her father, and another about how three of the Bumage-Smoyes Cup buddies are constantly encouraging and rooting for Chad Ramage, the only member of the foursome who has yet to make a hole in one (“Keep trying, Chad — you’ll get one someday!”)

Once again, it’s a lively discussion (that some might even consider funny, depending on your sense of humor) and another example of how the game brings together the oddest of individuals in pursuit of the amazing places golf takes us and the memories it creates.
