Much of golf is about hanging out with great friends. And then there are weeks with guys like Jason Moyes, who joins “Talking GolfGetaways” to discuss the two-man-team battle that took place in North Carolina last year as Moyes and his partner (and brother-in-law) Michael Smee edged podcast co-host Darin Bunch and his partner Chad Ramage for the coveted Bumage-Smoyes Cup.
What ensues is mostly a tag-team bash session for Moyes and co-host Mitch Laurance to make fun of Bunch — but in between, the threesome talk about favorite two-man-team formats, the impression Tobacco Road makes on first-time visitors and how the hallowed fairways of Pinehurst No. 2 create an enchanting golf experience for those lucky enough to find their way to America’s golf mecca of the East. They also detail the storied history of the Bumage-Smoyes Cup, dating back to the now-infamous “Beatdown at Bandon Dunes,” which team Bumage won by approximately 1 million strokes.
It’s a fun episode with one of Darin’s good buddies (and now one of Mitch’s as well), and we hope the camaraderie and love of friendly competition comes through in this somewhat goofy half hour. Enjoy the connection.
