It’s time for another Emergency 9 Golf-Travel Quiz on the “Talking GolfGetaways” podcast (presented by 2UNDR apparel), and Zen Welborn — creator of #GolfChat on Twitter and owner of 19th Hole Media — follows up his earlier podcast appearance (Episode 93) with some great information, a ton of fun … and a bit of personal Scottish history.

LISTEN to the show on audioBoom!

Zeb starts us off explaining why historic Los Serranos Golf & Country Club in Chino Hills, California is his “Favorite Course,” not only because he loves to play the 36 holes there but also because it played an integral part in his childhood (his parents still live just off the golf course). And he also adds why a trip to Chicago and a chance to play iconic Cog Hill (and the lesser known Cantigny Golf Club) place that area at the top of his “Favorite Destination” list.

Zeb’s “Bucket List” destination is Scotland, and once you hear the details of a fascinating family connection to legendary James Braid, Elie Golf Club and St. Andrews, you’ll understand why Zeb is passionate about making this golfing Nirvana his golfgetaway dream.

A number of “Best Places to Stay” made it onto Zeb’s list — including Austin, Nashville and New York — and he brings back memories of the friendly, low-key cottages at Central California’s Stevinson Ranch, now sadly gone after ownership was forced to close the course.

Zeb next describes why a fantastic steak dinner in San Jose with the head honchos from the California Golf Course Owners Association during Game 7 of the Cubs-Indians World Series became the “Best Thing He’s Ever Eaten on a Trip,” and he explains why finding competitive nighttime activities at a local bar is the “Most Important Thing Other Than Golf” on his golfing getaways.

#GolfChat logo balls are, understandably, Zeb’s “Most Important Golf Equipment,” and he shares how he stays stocked up with his No. 1 apparel requirement: a good golf glove. A 7-handicap who often plays with golf course clients from his social media business, Zeb loves playing from whatever tees his partners enjoy.

And, finally, Zeb explains why professional wrestler Chabo Guerrero is the “Most Interesting Person He’s Ever Golfed With,” (during a round at Southern California’s Arroyo Trabucco) and reiterates why Los Serranos is the “Course He Wishes Everyone Knew About.”

It’s a fun golf-travel discussion from one of the game’s true marketing champions. Enjoy the connection with Zeb Welborn.
