Talking GolfGetaways, Episode 5: The story of us (aw, isn’t that sweet?)

Wielding hickories and clad in plus-fours, Darin Bunch and Mitch Laurance tackle Kingsbarns outside St. Andrews, Scotland.

Bringing the first week of “Talking GolfGetaways” to a close, hosts Mitch Laurance and Darin Bunch get a little personal in Episode 5, offering listeners insight into the divergent roads the led them to this fateful moment in time when they’ve become the dynamic duo of golf-travel podcasting.

Things you’ll learn in this episode include: Darin has a transcendent goatee; Mitch starred in the 1990 movie “Syngenor” (a cult horror “classic”); Darin can’t tell Mitch and his twin brother, Matthew, apart (one was on “Beverly Hills, 90210” and the other was on “Dawson’s Creek”; Mitch worked on “Saturday Night Live” in the late 1970s; Darin loves teen-drama television (probably a little too much); and both Mitch and Darin play golf with hickory clubs from the 1920s instead of modern equipment, exemplifying their love of stick-and-ball games.

Plus, Mitch and Darin discuss how a guest turn on friend Mark Carnevale’s SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio show sparked the idea for “Talking GolfGetaways.” And they offer up a few rejected name suggestions for the show — as well as one that survived the cut (the adopted unofficial alternate title of #2HaggisBags).
