Keegan Bradley using the short putter this week at Memorial

It's going to be an awkward site watching Keegan Bradley this week at the Memorial Tournament. No, not the start-and-stop pre-shot routine, but what putter Bradley will be using.

Golf Channel reports Bradley will be using a traditional-length putter this week at Muirfield Village. The putter model -- the Odyssey XG Sabretooth -- will remain the same, but it will not be the 46.5-inch belly putter he used to win the 2011 PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club. It will be a counterbalanced model, offering weighting at the grip end of the club to somewhat simulate the feel of anchoring.

Bradley considered moving to a shorter putter at the 2013 Masters, but the difference in length was one-quarter of an inch.

The timing of the change is odd considering the U.S. Open is just two weeks away at Pinehurst No. 2. Anchoring a putter to any part of your body other than up your forearm will be illegal on Jan. 1, 2016, when Rule 14-1b comes into effect.
