A day after Rory McIlroy announced he had ended his relationship with former No. 1 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, the other half of the erstwhile Wozzilroy reacted on Twitter.

"It's a hard time for me right now," Wozniacki tweeted. "Thanks for all the sweet messages! Happy I support Liverpool right now because I know I'll never walk alone."

The soccer mention was a jab at McIlroy, who supports Manchester United, a different team in the English Premier League. Wozniacki also dropped that she was McIlroy's fiancee from her Twitter profile.

McIlroy said on Wednesday he wasn't ready for marriage, ending his relationship with Wozniacki after the couple had sent out wedding invitations to a ceremony, as Stephanie Wei reports, was scheduled for the weekend after the Ryder Cup in New York City.

The two-time major winner admitted Wednesday it will be difficult playing in this week's BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour's flagship event, at Wentworth in England.
