Shooting a sub-60 round in golf is magical -- or, at least, that's what we're told by people who have done it. It's often a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing.
That's what makes Inia Logan's 59 this week so impressive: He did it at the ripe old age of 15.
Logan was playing in an intercollegiate tournament at Roxburgh G.C. when he carded 59 to win. It was a par-68 course, so that may cheapen the 59 number to some, but a 9-under round is nothing to dismiss.
"It was a pretty big deal because not many people shoot in the 50s," Logan said, according to Stuff.co.nz. "I knew I was getting close to the 50s - I knew I had to get a couple of birdies down the last five holes and I did that so it was pretty good. There was a scoreboard up there and after 12 holes I was seven under so, as people started to finish, they came and watched, which was pretty cool. I don't think I could play any better than what I did."
