It's not every day that you witness maybe the best golf shot you'll see in your lifetime. But today's the day.
A few months back, Matt Wheatcroft was in a tight spot playing the 95-yard fourth hole at the Cromwell Course at Nailcote Hall in the British Par 3 Championship. His ball had landed to the back and left of the green, up against a fence post. After evaluating all of his options, he decided the best shot was to try to hit his ball off the fence post and toward the green.
So that's what he did, and he stuck it to a foot. A foot!
The shot called to mind a similar effort from Miguel Angel Jimenez at the 2010 Open Championship, ricocheting his ball off the wall behind the Road Hole 17th at the Old Course at St. Andrews.
But this was better.
