The European Tour released its 2013-14 schedule on Sunday, adding in several new events, as well as shifting others around in terms of dates and places.

The schedule will feature 48 events, kicking off next week with the South African Open as part of a four-tournament swing through South Africa. The Alfred Dunhill Championship follows, with the 30-player, big-money Nedbank Golf Challenge becoming an official event for the first time, opposite the Hong Kong Open, back on the European Tour schedule after its absence in 2012-13. The Nelson Mandela Championship, in its second season, will wrap up the 2013 portion of the schedule.

The European Tour kicks off 2014 again in South Africa for the Volvo Golf Champions, leading into the Middle East swing in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Dubai. Then it's back to South Africa for three more events, including the Tshwane Open again opposite the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

A new unofficial team event will be played in March 18-20, as the Eurasia Cup will pit teams of players from Europe against Asian counterparts in a Ryder Cup/Seve Trophy-style format.

The Volvo Match Play Championship will be moving venues and dates, with an unknown host course but a penciled in October date.

A two-week gap on the European Tour schedule from this season will be filled by new events in consecutive weeks. The Made in Denmark will be played the week after the PGA Championship, while the D+D Real Czech Masters will come immediately after that.

The final four events of the European Tour season will remain the same, though officials have said the requirement to play two of the three events in the Finals Series before the conclusion in Dubai will be thoroughly reviewed. Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia and Charl Schwartzel opted to skip parts of the series in protest of the participation rule.

Gone from the schedule in 2013-14 are the Avantha Masters in India, as is the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneages since the Scottish resort is hosting the '14 Ryder Cup. The Irish Open does not have a 2014 venue yet, though '13 host Carton House is considered a favorite for the duties. ISPS Handa has dropped as the title sponsor of the Perth International, but the event continues with a TBD venue.
