A year ago in waning daylight, Dennis Miller's ball took the half-revolution it needed to disappear in the ground and secure for him a spot in the 112th U.S. Open.

The Ohio golf director isn't Merion-bound this year, but all three of the guys who were in that four-for-three playoff with him last year at Scioto C.C. in Columbus are.

Morgan Hoffmann, who was first to earn his way into the field at The Olympic Club through the playoff a year ago, qualified through the Memphis sectional on Monday.

Scott Piercy was already exempt into the U.S. Open via his place in last year's Tour Championship on the PGA Tour.

Justin Hicks was the last of the three to qualify for the 2013 U.S. Open, earning his place through an 11-for-seven playoff -- again, in Columbus.
