Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have been confirmed to headline the inaugural Turkish Airlines World Golf Finals, the tournament announced Wednesday in Istanbul.
The world Nos. 1 and 3 will be part of a eight-man field, vying for a $5.2 million purse. They will be joined by Charl Schwartzel, Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar and Webb Simpson.
The match-play tournament will be played at the Antalya resort from Oct. 9-12, with the winner receiving $1.5 million. The eighth-place player will earn $300,000.
Woods will not compete in the Frys.com Open for a second consecutive year, as the Turkey event conflicts with what will become the PGA Tour season opener in 2013.
McIlroy has decided to skip playing in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, the tournament reserved for the four major champions of the year, in Bermuda to play in this event. Keegan Bradley will take McIlroy's place.
