European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal did as expected on Monday, selecting Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts with his two wild-card picks to round out the dozen-man team headed to Medinah next month.
The Spaniard called the Poulter pick "obvious," which it was. Poulter is 8-3 in three previous appearances in the Ryder Cup, including an outstanding a 4-1-0 record in 2008 at Valhalla in a losing effort.
Colsaerts will be making his Ryder Cup debut after boasting a strong 2012 campaign, including a win at the Volvo World Match Play Championship in Spain, defeating Graeme McDowell in the process.
