Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy will descend on The Philippines in November to take part in a charity match to benefit Jason Day's Brighter Days Foundation called "Rory vs. D.J.: Battle for a Cause."
The two top players will compete near Manila -- golf's version of the Thrilla in Manila -- on Nov. 29 in an 18-hole match at Pradera Verde Golf & Country Club. The day after, the duo will have some kind of "Beat the Pro" challenge.
So, why Manila? Well, while we think of Day as playing under the Australian banner, he is of Filipino heritage. His mother is from Leyte, and Day is expected to spend some time exploring the area. He was also originally scheduled to compete in the event, but he has cleared his schedule of golf in the next few months to recover from a back injury. Johnson, the U.S. Open champion, has agreed to take Day's place in the match.
