Daily fantasy golf has been a boon for DraftKings (full disclosure: GNN has a financial relationship with the company), leading to the creation of $1 million paydays for the winners of the biggest contests surrounding the four men's major championships. Most every week on the PGA Tour, the biggest DraftKings game awards $100,000 to the winner.
Inspired by that success, and likely its foray into the European market, DraftKings is introducing European Tour daily fantasy golf, starting with this week's BMW PGA Championship, the recognized flagship event of the tour.
The concept for European Tour DraftKings daily fantasy golf is the same as its PGA Tour games. Entrants create teams of six golfers, restricted by a salary cap of $50,000, with players' salaries based on their current form and preference for the host venue. Players are then scored on their hole-by-hole performance and position on the leaderboard. The entry with the most points wins.
So, if you're a European Tour diehard and have been on the sidelines of daily fantasy golf, here's your chance to hop into it.
