Paige Spiranac's Ladies European Tour debut did not get off to a good start on Wednesday, with the 22-year-old Instagram sensation shooting 5-over 77 in the first round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.

Spiranac is tied for 94th place in the 108-player field, into which she was given a sponsor's exemption.

The San Diego State product opened with a bogey at the first at Emirates Golf Club. She made her only birdie of the day on the par-3 fourth, but then dropped a shot on the next hole. She ended the side at 3 over following a double-bogey 6 at the ninth.

Bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes, combined with seven pars on the back side, finished out her round at 5 over.

Spiranac trails first-round co-leaders Liz Young and Carmen Alonso by 11 shots, as both players shot 66 to take the Day 1 edge. LPGA major winner Shanshan Feng is a shot behind the pace.
