Jordan Spieth uncertain of how he’ll make 2016 live up to 2015

Jordan Spieth had an incredible 2015: seven worldwide victories, including five PGA Tour wins with two majors, coming up four shots shy of taking the other two, taking the FedEx Cup, reaching No. 1 in the world and earning $22 million on the PGA Tour.

How on Earth is Spieth going to live up to that in 2016? The 22-year-old said Tuesday that he's not sure.

“I don’t know if I’ll actually raise the bar on what I accomplished in this year. I don’t know if that is realistic,” Spieth said at the Emirates Australian Open in Sydney. “You have to approach every year believing you can actually do better."

There's been an argument made in pockets of golf that this is as good is it will ever get for Spieth. However, Spieth can't believe that. If this year was as good as it gets, why keep trying?

“There’s a chance it can all come together and I can improve on the last year," he said. "I believe that, otherwise there would be no point in me setting lofty goals. I believe that my best is forward. I believe that my prime is ahead of me. I have to believe that, but I actually do."

However, Spieth would be perfectly happy reliving his 2015 like Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day."

“Having said that, if I had to pick the three most lucrative tournaments for me to win, I won all three," he said. "That was the plan and it just came together. If I could somehow duplicate that year for the rest of my career I would be pretty pleased."

Spieth did mention something perhaps more likely to happen than duplicating or even topping what would be a great career for most golfers.

"I could go without missing a cut," he said. "I missed four this year. I like playing on weekends, so there’s ways to improve on that."
