The world's top-ranked amateur golfer showed again at the OHL Classic why it won't be too long before he is a successful pro on the PGA Tour.
Arizona State senior Jon Rahm, winner of the 2015 McCormack Medal for the amateur at the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, shot 1-under 70 at El Camaleon Golf Club in Mexico and finished T-10 on Monday at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.
For Rahm, it's his second top-10 PGA Tour finish in calendar 2015. He finished T-5 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the hometown event of sorts for the Spaniard. Rahm also made the cut at the Travelers Championship last June, finishing T-64.
Despite scoring the top-10 finish, Rahm, as an amateur, does not earn a spot in this week's RSM Classic at Sea Island in Georgia that would typically go to a player who cracks the top 10 in an open PGA Tour event. However, it won't be long before we see more of Rahm on the PGA Tour. He said this week that he'll likely play in the U.S. Open at Oakmont in June, which he is exempt into as well the Open Championship because of the McCormack Medal win, before turning pro.
