A new LPGA event is coming to Ann Arbor, Mich., as part of the 2016 schedule.

The LPGA Volvik Championship will debut atĀ Travis Pointe Country Club when it's played May 26-29. The 72-hole event will have a 144-player field vying for a $1.3 million purse. Volvik has signed a three-year deal as title sponsor of the event. The golf-ball maker has been an official LPGA sponsor for the last five years, including attaching its name to the money-list race on the Symetra Tour.

The Memorial Day weekend event will tie in with the University of Michigan's National Network of Depression Centers, which emphasizes mental-health issues for current and former military members and their families.

The event will mark a second Michigan-based LPGA eventĀ on the schedule. The Meijer LPGA Classic, played in Grand Rapids, has been played in July.
