SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- Don't expect to see Tiger Woods at next week's Wyndham Championship.
Woods shot 3-over 75 in his opening round at Whistling Straits in the 2015 PGA Championship, indicating a missed cut and a free weekend is in the offing.
"The season is pretty much over very soon," said Woods, who came into the week ranked 186th in FedEx Cup points. For Woods to get inside the top 125 in points and get into the FedEx Cup playoff, he needs to finish in the top two this week. Barring a miraculous second round tomorrow, that's not happening.
PSYCH!: Tiger Woods is playing in the Wyndham Championship
With a half-hour of the end of his second round ends on Friday, Woods has to decide if he'll play in the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C., the final regular season PGA Tour event and the last chance to qualify for the playoffs. He would need to win the Wyndham to qualify for the playoffs.
Given his post-round chatter and the odds against Woods humbling himself in search of an unlikely win at Sedgefield Country Club, we're going to assume Woods will pass on the Wyndham.
See you in October at the Frys.com Open, Tiger.
