Don’t get suckered by generous betting odds on Tiger Woods for the Masters

Now that Tiger Woods is in the Masters, some of you will probably be tempted to lay a few bucks on the guy to win a fifth green jacket.

Depending on the sports book, you can bet on Woods to win at anywhere from 40-to-1 to 55-to-1. Don't do it. Woods is being lumped in with guys like Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, J.B. Holmes and Lee Westwood. In case you're not clear, that's the area reserved for guys you'd think should be an under-the-radar pick, but ultimately are not. Between those four, they have one major (Justin Rose, 2013 U.S. Open).

Yes, Woods has four Masters titles, and he's finished outside the top six just once in eight starts since his last win in 2005. However, in his last nine worldwide starts, Woods has withdrawn three times, missed the cut three times, finished last twice among those players who completed all four rounds and had a T-25 finish.

Even if Woods has found his game and is ready to contend at the Masters, the odds just aren't good enough to justify the investment.
