Things were weird on Thursday at the Valero Texas Open. Phil Mickelson's club head went flying off. Aaron Baddeley made a hole-in-one on a par 4 with his second ball after his first went out of bounds. And to top it off, the face broke on Troy Merritt's 2-iron.

The Wilson Golf staffer shared a picture of the busted face on Twitter. It apparently happened on the par-4 11th hole, with his tee shot only going 156 yards on the 405-yard hole. Merritt made a bogey, but still shot an impressive 2-over 74 in very difficult scoring conditions at TPC San Antonio.

Rest assured, Merritt will have a new 2-iron in his bag very soon. s
