It's so windy at the Madiera Islands Open, this week's European Tour stop, that it stopped Round 1 play on Thursday before it ever got started.
During the delay, the European Tour staff decided to test just how strong the breeze was. As it turns out, it's strong enough to make a 3-foot putt on its own.
So, it's pretty obvious why they stopped play on the Portuguese island, right?
This is one of the weaker fields of the year for the European Tour, typically proving an opportunity for a young player to break through. S.S.P. Chawrasia is the only top-200 player (No. 174) in the Official World Golf Ranking playing in this event.
