$89 per year for unlimited golf?! That’s unbelievable

A lot of golf courses are starved for money, but the deal The Meadows Golf Club in Massachusetts is offering is absolutely ridiculous.

They're offering an opportunity to play unlimited golf for $89 per year. That's $89 (plus an annual $10 "administrative fee"). This is downright unprecedented.

So what's the catch? Well, a few things. It's a nine-hole course, the price is for a weekday membership and you have to pay for two years up front. So, for the grand total of $198, you can play unlimited golf on weekdays for two years? And for $75 more per year I can play every day of the week? I'm 500 miles away and I'd consider that.

What's the reason for the deal? Well, the golf course has new owners, who purchased it at a short sale (asking price was $570,000). The course and clubhouse were flooded during Hurricane Irene in August 2011, but the previous owner, Terri White, didn't have flood insurance. Golfers didn't return to the course until late 2012, and by then, it was too late. The course, which opened sometime in the 1930s, will be renovated and reopen in the spring.

Yeah, that still is the Steal of the Century.
