Padraig Harrington made the trek to Georgia this week to play in the PGA Tour's McGladrey Classic with the hope of getting on a path back to exempt status he lost this past season. The three-time major winner, however, had a somewhat harrowing journey to St. Simons Island for the tournament.

A piece of Harrington's private plane came unbolted from the rest of the body an hour into the flight, exposing some of the engine's parts to the elements and potentially impacting the aerodynamic function of the plane.

The aircraft landed safely, but the incident was scary enough for the Irishman to issue a rare tweet -- his 20th ever -- about it.

Harrington's first-round 71 has him six shots behind the lead after Day 1 at Sea Island Golf Club.
