David Feherty was born Irish but is full-on American. The golf commentator's support for American servicemen and servicewomen through his Troops First Foundation is beyond admirable. Now he's hoping to share with the masses many of the stories he's heard that has compelled his commitment to veterans.
Feherty has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $650,000 to produce 10 feature-length films profiling the stories of veterans ($65,000 per film) in a series he's calling "Portraits of War." The films would be done in a 14-month stretch, with the first one already two-thirds done with out-of-pocket funding.
"The idea for this project came from hours and hours of listening to different soldiers tell stories from their time in combat or in training," Feherty writes. "The stories of their lives and what made them want to put their life on the line for this country are amazing, and every single one deserves to have their story captured."
If you support the project with at least a $7,500 donation, you'll be able to have dinner with one of the profiled soldiers and Feherty. Not bad. The mission is a great one, so if you're so inclined, support the project.
