Who needs 14 clubs to play golf? Chris Stroud doesn't. He'll be playing the rest of his opening round at the BMW Championship on Thursday with just 13.

After hitting his tee shot at the par-4 ninth Stroud was so unhappy with it that he snapped the driver shaft in his hands simply by bending the club. Ouch. The crazy part? Stroud was 2 under par at the time, just a shot off the lead of several players at Cherry Hills. Even crazier? He was ever so close to a hole-in-one earlier in the round.

How quickly the mood can change in golf. Stroud went on to make a closing bogey at what was his last hole of the day and posted 1-under 69.

And what's with the BMW Championship and players snapping clubs in two? A year ago, Henrik Stenson broke his driver in Chicago after a poor shot.
