Michelle Wie's phone blew up after she won her first major a week ago at Pinehurst No. 2 in the U.S. Women's Open. Adam Sandler, however, went a step further than sending a text. He sent flowers.

Wie confirmed Sandler, who famously played the cult-favorite character Happy Gilmore, had a celebratory bouquet sent to her Florida home.

“I feel like that’s the biggest prize in golf, getting flowers from Happy Gilmore,” Wie said at a Thursday news conference ahead of this week's Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.

But why? Sandler and Wie played together in a Pro Junior Challenge event ahead of the Sony Open almost 10 years ago. As he'd be expected to do, Sandler busted out the Happy Gilmore swing on the first tee, Wie said.
